math456.com is organising a Mathematics workshop on model diagrams for Primary 4, 5 and 6 children in March. This is an intensive one-day hands-on workshop created specially for children. Model diagram is actually algebra done using boxes. A good understanding of model diagrams will allow a child to solve difficult or challenging problems easily. No prior knowledge of model diagrams is assumed. During the workshop, model diagrams will be explained in great detail and more importantly how model diagrams are used to solve problems from the simplest to the most difficult. Jimmy 'Copperfield' will entertain the children with magic during breaks. The course material is prepared by math456.com. The workshop will be conducted by Dr Chen Chuan Chong and his team. Dr Chen was an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, National University of Singapore for many years until his retirement. Problems similar (in concepts) to PSLE examination papers and those used by top primary schools will be used. Newly crafted problems that enhance a child's thinking skills will also be used. math456.com is organising a "Fun with Maths IQ" workshop for primary school children during the school holidays. The aims of this workshop are to help a child to develop an interest in Mathematics and to enhance a child's thinking and problem solving skills. We will be using problems which cover different aspects of intelligence from basic arithmetic to creative problem solving skills, including spatial and visual manipulations. Jimmy 'Copperfield' will entertain the children with magic during breaks. It will be a fun-filled workshop. The workshop will be conducted by Dr Chen Chuan Chong and his team. Dr Chen was with the Department of Mathematics, National University of Singapore for many years. He has retired from NUS. He was the Chairman of the Singapore International Mathematical Olympiad Committee from 1986 to 1990. He and his committee members selected and trained Singaporean students to take part in the International Mathematical Olympiad competitions.
